About At Get Started we offer a comprehensive online personal training program. The program is designed to support you to meet your fitness goals. At the same time our trainers tailor the program specific to your needs, so that you will continue to make steps toward your goals. We specialize in working with people who are beginners or who want to get started with exercise. If you are currently exercising and would like to train with our trainers, we have options for you too. There are different interpretations of what online training means. ‘Online training’...Does that mean I will be exercising my fingers on my keyboard at work?’ — one person jokingly mentioned after hearing about Online Training. At Get Started, online means: we will provide email and web-cam support to help you reach your goals. We want to be as interactive as possible and to be able to show you the exercises and provide feedback, as if, we were right in your home with you. We also want to be accessible when you have questions. You will be able to email us on your own time and will respond quickly. GETTING STARTED On the Get Started website, you begin by logging in. This begins your first steps. Once you login, there are 3 forms that you will fill out. It will take you approximately 20 minutes to fill out. Input InformationIn the first section we ask you some basic questions about yourself; like your name, age, height, etc. Then there are a series of questions we ask about your exercise and activity background followed by seven questions to help us assess your adherence to exercise. We call these the 7 by 7 opening questions. These help us to understand who you are. We will incorporate what you tell us into your program in various ways. Your feedback on this section will help us with our approach and the way in which we will support you during your program. In addition, your answers will help us develop your exercise program. Health History FormThe next two sections tell us about your health. The health history form will help us review your cardiovascular risk and any injuries you have currently or sustained in the past. There are 17 questions in this area. PAR-QThe last section is called the PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire). There are seven yes and no questions that will tell us if you will need a doctors approval to begin working with us. The form is standard in the exercise and health world, or participating in a personalized exercise program. If you answered yes to any of the questions, you will need medical clearance. If you need a physicians clearance, this is the form that will need to be completed prior to beginning working with any of our trainers First Phone SessionAfter the last section, we will then have much of the information we need before your first phone session. We will review your information, then contact you by email to set up your first phone consultation session. The first phone session will last about a half-an-hour. We will talk in further detail with you about your goals, what you’d like to accomplish by participating in the program. At the end of the session we will learn more about you and set up additional dates for your personal training session via webcam. Setting up a webcamSetting up a webcam is very easy and we will assist you if you have any questions on how to get it set-up. We do all of our broadcasting through Skype. You will need to down load this application to your computer which takes only a few minutes. It is available for PC and MAC users. Exercise and SupportIn each of the training sessions we will teach you specific exercises individualized to your needs and goals. Follow-upAfter each completed session you will receive an online survey. If you have further questions after completing your sessions, please feel free to contact your trainer directly.
